....exactly what the knitting is going to decide to be.
I had a few projects that needed felting, so I finally got to it tonight, and it's always interesting to find out what the knitting has decided it will be - as opposed to what I had intended it to be.
The strawberry tea cozy turned out perfectly, fitting cozily over my teapot - which is pretty darn good considering I just winged it without a pattern. Although, it is very clearly NOT a strawberry tea cozy, and instead is a tomato. It's still terribly cute and kitschy so we will mark it as a success.
The shoulder bag turned out quite as I envisioned it, which again, since I suck at the whole pattern concept and made it by butchering a perfectly nice purse pattern, is a success. Well, mostly a success, since I realized after I felted the damn thing that I seamed the strap on with a twist in it, and there is a stupid hole where I switched one of the colours. These things are completely fixable, at least. So all is good.
The hat, on the other hand.
Sigh.
Kind of a failure.
It was supposed to be a cloche. I even used a pattern. I did a swatch, I got gauge, I followed the stupid pattern, and it is too short and too wide for my head. I will blame my head and not the poor pattern designer. No, I will blame the pattern, damn it. I think I can salvage it, with a bit of cutting and sewing, and turn it into a plain old hat, instead.
